Your City Council at Work

On January 24, 2022, the city council selected Paul Watson to fill the remainder of the council seat left vacant by the election of Mayor Maughan.

On February 4, 2022, the council conducted an all-day session to discuss goals for the next budget year. On February 8, the council took the following actions:

  1. Amended the city budget to allow increases in wages for multiple positions in crisis, including the police department. The council spent approximately two hours taking public comments and debating this matter.
  2. Appointed councilmembers to various positions and boards, including Jordan Savage to the Wasatch Integrated Waste Management District Board and Jennifer Carver to the Davis County Mosquito Abatement District.
  3. Enacted an ordinance prohibiting the use of engine brakes by large trucks throughout the city, no matter the time of day.
  4. Land Use:
    a. Approved zone change at 3329 S. 2000 W. from R-1 and A-1 to General Commercial.
    b. Approved zone change at 2383 W. 2700 S. from R-1 to R-3.
  5. Approved Contracts:
    a. Design contract for the Emergency Operations Center.
    b. Contracts with UDOT related to reimbursements related to the Corridor construction.
    c. Contracts with the United States Bureau of Reclamation related to the relocation of the Layton Canal.
